How This Site Gets Its Numbers
Every number is traceable; nothing is guessed.
Specs
- Every model's specifications come from its manufacturer's own product or spec page. That page is linked, with the access date, at the bottom of every model page.
- For 33 of 61 models, the load-bearing spec strings (build volume, speed) were found verbatim in the fetched manufacturer page and are re-verified on every refresh — if a manufacturer edits the page and the string disappears, the model is flagged for re-curation rather than silently trusted.
- The rest are curated from manufacturer spec sheets whose pages cannot be machine-read (client-rendered stores, or manufacturers that block automated access — Bambu Lab's site returns HTTP 403 to non-browsers, which is noted on each affected page).
- A spec the manufacturer does not state is shown as “not stated” — never estimated.
Prices
- 53 of 61 models carry a live price pulled from the manufacturer's official store on the date shown (Shopify stores publish a machine-readable product feed; Creality and Prusa embed schema.org price data in their pages).
- Models whose stores publish no machine-readable price show the list price with its as-of date and an asterisk in the table.
- Prices outside plausibility bounds are rejected and logged, never published. A failed price fetch keeps the previous good number rather than publishing a blank or a guess.
Comparisons and guides
- Head-to-head pages are arithmetic on the stored data: green cells mark the better number; the “pick this if” bullets are generated from price, volume, speed, enclosure and multi-material differences.
- Buyer guides print their selection rule at the top and apply it mechanically. There are no sponsored placements; changing the data changes the list.
- What spec sheets cannot tell you — print quality, reliability, noise, support — is explicitly out of scope and marked as such on every comparison.
Refresh cadence
Quarterly. Printer specs are fixed at launch; prices move slowly outside sale events. Each refresh re-fetches ~40 official sources, re-proves the verbatim spec evidence, and re-pulls every machine-readable price.
